Gopherus is a free, multiplatform, console-mode gopher client that provides a
classic text interface to the gopherspace.
This program is released under the terms of the '2-clause' BSD license.


### KEY BINDINGS #############################################################

Gopherus is a console-mode gopher client entirely keyboard-driven. Its default
key bindings are listed below:

TAB       - Switch to/from URL bar edition
ESC       - Quit Gopherus (requires a confirmation)
UP/DOWN   - Scroll the screen's content up/down by one line
PGUP/PGDW - Scroll the screen's content up/down by one page
HOME/END  - Jump to the top/bottom of the current document
BACKSPACE - Go back to the previous location
B         - Bookmark current location
DEL       - Delete bookmark (main screen only)
F1        - Show help (this file)
F2        - Go to program's main screen
F4        - Go to current server's main menu
F5        - Refresh current location
F9        - Download location to disk
F10       - Download all files in current menu to disk

Key bindings can be reconfigured through the Gopherus configuration file by
assigning key scancodes to following configuration variables:

### CUSTOM COLOR SCHEMES #####################################################

The Gopherus color scheme can be customized using a "colors" variable in the
configuration file. This variable must contain exactly 6 color attributes,
each describing the foreground and background color of a given UI element. An
attribute is composed of two hex digits: BF, where B is the background color,
and F is the foreground color. Colors indexes follow the classic CGA palette:

0 = black
1 = low blue
2 = low green
3 = low cyan
4 = low red
5 = low magenta
6 = low brown
7 = light gray
8 = dark gray
9 = high blue
A = high green
B = high cyan
C = high red
D = high magenta
E = yellow
F = high intensity white

### CONFIGURATION FILE LOCATION ##############################################

The location of the Gopherus config file depends on your platform.
Run "gopherus --help" to learn it.


### REQUIREMENTS #############################################################

Gopherus has been designed with ancient hardware in mind, hence it doesn't
need much to run. The 16-bit DOS version requires at least:
 - an MDA video card
 - some kind of CPU (8086+)
 - 400K of available RAM
 - an ethernet card with a working packet driver


### UTF-8 SUPPORT ############################################################

Gopherus decodes all displayable content as UTF-8 and outputs wide characters
to the terminal whenever possible (relying on ncursesw). On the DOS platform
it limits output to characters in the ASCII range 32..255 and assumes a system
codepage set to Latin I.
